Hyderabad: Hyderabad experienced a refreshing spell of light rain on Sunday evening, offering a welcome change after several weeks of dry and chilly nights.

Overcast skies and a steady drizzle created a soothing atmosphere, marking a pleasant end to the weekend. The rains, though not heavy, were widespread, touching various parts of the city and its surrounding districts.

The IMD has forecast similar weather conditions for the next two days.

Cloudy skies with misty or hazy mornings are expected, while maximum temperatures will hover around 28-29°C and minimum temperatures will range between 21°C and 24°C. Surface winds from the northeast, travelling at speeds of 6-10 kmph, are likely to persist.

Scattered showers were seen in Uppal, Nagole, Kapra, Boduppal and ECIL, with the rain spreading to Neredmet, Secunderabad and Osmania University shortly thereafter.

There were also scattered thunderstorms across the state, in districts like Nirmal, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Medak, and Jangaon.

Cyclone Fengal has been identified as the trigger for the rains across Telangana. IMD has issued a yellow alert, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Suryapet districts.

The drizzle, which began around noon, expanded gradually with intensity varying across regions. By evening, light rain had cooled temperatures, providing relief to the people.

Addagutta reported the highest at four mm, followed by Habsiguda and Uppal with three mm each, while it was between 1.8 mm and 2 mm at Rahmatnagar and Nampally.

Meanwhile, the rain disrupted the Goa vs Kerala match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGICS). Persistent showers delayed the toss, leaving players and fans waiting for updates on the game’s commencement.
