Hyderabad: Man Flung Into Air, Dies After Speeding Car Hits Him

Hyderabad: A 38-year-old man died on the spot after a 20-year-old second-year degree student, reportedly under the influence of alcohol and without a driver’s licence, rammed his car into the victim. The incident occurred on Gajularamaram road, within Jeedimetla police station limits in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Basha Gopi, who works as a watchman. The accused, Manish Goud, who was driving the car with five others in the vehicle, hit Gopi, who was walking on the road. The watchman was about 10 metres by the impact and landed on the other side of the a fence.

The accused and five others tried to flee the spot. While the passengers fled the site, with one of them jumping a compound wall, the accused was caught by passersby.
Manish Goud, who initially got out of the car along with other passengers, ran back towards the car after seeing the crowd, when he was caught.

According to Jeedimetla circle inspector G. Mallesh, the car was going from Devendranagar road to Gajularamaram.

While Manish Goud was taken into custody by the Jeedimetla police, five of his friends are currently absconding.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms. In the video, the car was seen being driven in a rash and negligent manner, and ramming into the security guard. In the video, it’s also seen that a two-wheeler rider is trying to avoid a crash, describing the fact that the SUV was being driven very negligently.

A case was registered and further investigation is underway.
