Hyderabad Official Orders Immediate Clean-Up Before Ganesh
Hyderabad: M. Dana Kishore, principal secretary, municipal administration and urban development (MU&UD) department, on Friday warned municipal officials that any negligence towards sanitation and cleanliness would result in strict action being taken against them.
During an inspection in the Jalpally municipality limits, Dana Kishore reviewed the ongoing construction of a cement concrete road from Bala Garden Function Hall to Gurram Cheruvu, which spans 800 metres and is being funded by HMDA with an allocation of `1.25 crore.
Accompanied by Jalpally Municipality top officials, Kishore directed the expeditious completion of the road construction, stressing the importance of adhering to quality standards. He also inspected the Gurram Cheruvu Road in the Chandrayangutta zonal range, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the state of sanitation along the route.
South zone commissioner Venkanna and Chandrayanagutta deputy commissioner Surender were ordered to immediately remove disorganised water pipes and defunct toilets of the irrigation department, which were cluttering the area.
Kishore's frustration was evident as he reprimanded GHMC officials for the unacceptable levels of garbage and waste on both sides of the road, particularly with the upcoming Balapur Ganesh immersion procession set to pass through the same route.
He stressed that there would be zero tolerance for neglecting sanitation, especially with such a significant event approaching. Officials were instructed to ensure the road from Balapur crossroads to DRDO is clean and that pending CC and BT road construction works on this route are completed swiftly in mission mode. Additionally, the installation of permanent street lights was ordered to facilitate a smooth Ganesh immersion procession. DCP Sunitha was advised to coordinate with the relevant municipal authorities to make the necessary arrangements for the event.
