Hyderabad: Rangareddy joint collector, senior assistant collector in ACB trap
The duo were caught red-handed while accepting Rs 8 lakh bribe from a complainant
Hyderabad: The state CIU unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught the joint collector and senior assistant collector E-Section, of Ranga Reddy red handed while accepting Rs 8 lakh bribe from a complainant.
The accused officers (AO) Y Madan Mohan Reddy, senior assistant, E Section, Ranga Reddy district Dist., Collectorate, Kongarakalan was trapped red handed on t Gurramguda cross roads near Sanjeevani Vanam, by CIU teams of ACB.
Madan Mohan Reddy demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 8 lakh from the complainant Jakkidi Muthyam Reddy in his Maruti Swift Dzire care vide No.TS0BFR1134 when arrested.
The AO accepted that he accepted the bribe to process and get complainant's work done by influencing his higher officials i.e., to remove the 14 guntas of land from the prohibited list in Dharani website, ACB officer said.
The CIU team of ACB recovered an amount of Rs 8 lakh from Y.Madan Mohan Reddy, senior assistant‘s car.
After being subjected to phenolphthalein test Madan Mohan Reddy, tested positive.
During questioning the AO Y.Madan Mohan Reddy, CIU that he demanded the bribe on behalf of Sri MV Bhoopal Reddy, Joint Collector, and he can prove the same by calling Bhoopal Reddy.
Later when the AO Y.Madan Mohan Reddy, called MV Bhoopal Reddy, Joint Collector on his phone and informed about the receipt of bribe amount, to which MV Bhoopal Reddy, Joint Collector instructed him to come to Peddamberpet ORR to hand over the bribe amount, ACB said.
After MV Bhoopal Reddy, reached near Peddamberpet ORR on his official vehicle Innova vide No TS07GK0459 and stopped near the vehicle of Y.Madan Mohan Reddy.
Mohan Reddy proceeded with bribe amount of Rs 8 lakh that was kept in the plastic bag and entered into the Innova car and handed over to MV Bhoopal Reddy, and got down from the vehicle.
The CIU –ACB recovered the bribe amount of Rs 8 lakh from the Bhoopal Reddy, joint collector’s Innova car.
Bhoopal Reddy after been tested positive for Phenolphthalein test.
The Accused Officers (AO) abused their official position, powers vested in them and demanded and accepted the bribe amount.
Therefore the Accused Officer Y.Madan Mohan Reddy, Senior Assistant, E Section, Ranga Reddy Dist, Collectorate and Accused Officer-2 MV Bhoopal Reddy, Joint Collector, Ranga Reddy Dist., were arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court at Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.
The ACB chief C V Anand urged the public and victim to call phone number-1064 (Toll free Number) in case of demand of bribe by any public servant, the public are requested to contact toll free number of ACB TS, Hyderabad i.e., 1064 for taking action as per law.
