Hyderabad: Schools Gear Up for NCERT Assessment Exam Today
Hyderabad: Schools across the city are gearing up for the nationwide assessment under the Samagra Shiksha initiative, scheduled to be held on Wednesday (December 4). Organised by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the assessment, known as PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, aims to evaluate students’ educational progress in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The survey, to be conducted simultaneously across India, will involve students from Classes 3, 6, or 9, with only one class selected from each participating school. The test will cover foundational learning for Class 3, subjects like language, mathematics, and environmental studies for Class 6, and a wider spectrum including science and social science for Class 9.
Hyderabad’s schools have been making last-minute preparations to ensure a smooth process. Selected classrooms have been arranged with proper lighting, ventilation, and seating to facilitate a conducive environment for students taking the paper-based test. Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets will be used to record responses for precise data collection.
Teachers and school administrators have received instructions to fulfil additional roles during the survey. These include completing detailed questionnaires aimed at providing critical contextual information about teaching methodologies, school infrastructure, and student performance.
The data collected will contribute to a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of the education system, shaping future policies and reforms.
Special provisions have been made to ensure inclusivity, allowing students with disabilities to participate fully. These include extended time allowances and the availability of scribes where needed, reinforcing the equitable principles outlined in the NEP.
