Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) released an update on Wednesday detailing the number of encroachments removed by and the land that has been recovered since its formation in July.

Over the past two months, the agency has demolished 262 encroachments and reclaimed 111.72 acres of land.

The largest anti-encroachment drive was at Ameenpur lake on September 8, where 24 encroachments, including four sheds and 20 compound walls, were cleared from 51.78 acres.

At Chinthal Cheruvu, they demolished 54 asbestos-roofed structures, including one owned by BRS leader Ratnakaram Sai Raju.

About 16 encroachments were removed from Nandagiri Hills, where MLA Danam Nagender supported encroachers in the demolition of the compound wall of a land earmarked for a park on August 9.

A day later, in their bid to protect Bhumruq Dowla Lake in Rajendranagar, a six-floor building belonging to Mohmad Mubeen, the AIMIM legislator from Bahadurpura, was demolished. His party leader Mirza Rahmat Beig’s three-storied building was also demolished.

During their operations at Osmansagar and Gandipet lakes on August 18, structures belonging to Pallam Anand, brother of M.M. Pallam Raju, were demolished as were buildings owned by G.V. Bhasker Rao, owner of Kaveri Seeds and a former TTD member. Other properties that were demolished belonged to Sunil Reddy, a BJP candidate for the Manthani seat, and Anupama, wife of Srinivas, owner of a Pro Kabaddi franchise.
