Hyderabad: The revenue has intensified its demolition drive against illegal encroachments across Sangareddy district, razing structures built on full tank level (FTL) and buffer zones surrounding several lakes in Ameenpur. On Tuesday, revenue department officials cleared over 20 acres of encroached land in several parts of Ameenpur.

The demolition drive included several structures, including buildings owned by local municipal chairman Tummala Panduranga Reddy. These were flattened after authorities found they had been constructed on illegally encroached land.

Panduranga Reddy allegedly attempted to halt the demolition by positioning lorries on the road, and engaged in a verbal confrontation with the revenue officials.

Ten buildings were demolished during the operation. According to tahsildar Radha, the authorities had issued notice to the landowners. Despite this, tensions ran high as the demolitions began.

In addition to the Ameenpur operation, special teams also targeted encroachments in Illapur tanda and cleared illegal structures spread across 20 acres of government land.

Revenue department officials said that they received complaints from residents that unidentified persons had developed plotting on the encroached government land and placed boundary stones.

The revenue department also demolished structures and reclaimed around 15 guntas of encroached land from Fusion International School in Ameenpur. The school management had constructed boundary walls, sheds, and a basketball court on the encroached land.
