Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished seven under-construction villas in Dundigal which were built on the full tank level (FTL) of Mallampet lake.

Revenue officials were present at the demolition of the structures, built by Laxmi Srinivasa Constructions, and police authorities assisted in the exercise. Locals stated that each villa was sold at prices ranging from ₹75 lakh to ₹1.5 crore.

Locals and officials stated that the person behind Laxmi Srinivasa Construction was on Vijaya Lakshmi, reportedly locally known as ‘Lady Don’. HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath stated that a criminal case was filed against her for the illegal constructions.

He also said that Vijay Lakshmi faced multiple criminal cases booked and had connections with local politicians.

Locals alleged that the agency was demolishing buildings in which people were living in.

Replying to the allegations, commissioner Ranganath said “No building was demolished which was occupied by people. I have given clear instructions to my team that occupied villas shall not be demolished. All the structures demolished today were sealed two years back, and none of them are occupied.”
