HYDRAA Demolishes Under-construction Building at Ameenpur's Vandanapuri Colony
Hyderabad: Amid the rumbling noises of heavy machinery, debris crashing to the ground and the silent murmurs of locals, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) officials on Monday demolished an illegal under-construction structure in Ameenpur that was being built by encroaching a colony street.
Authorities demolished the under-construction building in Ameenpur’s Vandanapuri colony, which was being built on a 230-square yard land. The land in survey Number 848 of Sangareddy district’s Ameenpur mandal has a road that connects road no. 18 and 19 in the colony. The road was entirely encroached by builders for constructing a house.
The encroachers occupied the entire front end of the road, without letting any space for vehicles to move by.
Based on the complaints of Jana Chaitanya Residents' Welfare Association, HYDRAA officials verified the colony layouts and arrived at the conclusion that the encroacher had, in fact, occupied a street where they were coming up with a residential structure.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the association president Rudrapati Lingamayya said “This encroachment is a testament to the number of illegal constructions in Ameenpur. The encroachers often collude with municipal and town planning officials to carry out such outrageous encroachments.”
Explaining the society’s fight to have the encroachment removed, Lingamayya said “We fought against this encroachment for nearly 12 years now. I submitted the physical copies of the layouts to the municipal authorities, but they did not help matters. That is when we approached the High Court and got the declaration that this indeed was a road.”
“At the regional directorate of municipal administration (RDMA) office, the encroachers lied to officials, who gave them a green signal to go ahead with their construction project. In our helpless state, we approached HYDRAA officials a month ago, and submitted all the documents”, Lingamayya said.
He further said “HYDRAA officials made extremely detailed ground analyses of the situation. They surveyed all the documents and court orders, and came to the conclusion that they have encroached on the road.”
On who had claimed ownership of the land, Lingamayya said “It is being done by one Subrahmanyam and his wife, but we never saw them here. The builder said that he doesn’t know anything and is just being paid to construct the house.”
“I thank HYDRAA and all its officials for their quick work.”, Lingamayya added.
Officials razed the entire structure down, and immediately transported all the rubble to a dumping yard in Jeedimetla.
“We will completely remove the rubble from here and will remake the encroached part into a road now”, said an official.
