IAF’s Surya Kiran Team Meets Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for Reunion

Hyderabad: Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi and ace pilots of the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran aerobatic team met with irrigation minister Capt. Uttam Kumar Reddy, a former IAF officer, on Sunday.

For Uttam Kumar Reddy, a decorated former fighter pilot, the visit marked a heartfelt reunion. Having flown MiG-21 and MiG-23 fighter aircraft during his tenure, Uttam Kumar Reddy spent years safeguarding India's skies along the sensitive borders with Pakistan and China.

Reflecting on his service, he shared, "Those were the most fulfilling years of my life. Serving in the IAF, flying from forward air bases, and contributing to the security of our nation was both an honor and a duty I will always cherish."

The Surya Kiran aerobatic team, often hailed as the ambassadors of the Indian Air Force, is renowned globally for its breathtaking aerial displays.

Uttam Kumar Reddy remarked that the IAF continued to demonstrate unmatched skill and bravery, defending India's borders and rising to every challenge. He added that their commitment inspires immense pride in every Indian citizen.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, who also served on the Parliamentary Committee on Defence from 2019 to 2023, passionately advocated for prioritising the welfare of defence personnel.

"Our servicemen and women, both active and retired, along with their families, make immense sacrifices for the nation. It is our responsibility to ensure they are met with respect, proper facilities, and support," he said. He assured that the Congress government in Telangana is committed to the welfare of these brave individuals and their families.
