Hyderabad: Enforcement Directorate officials on Wednesday grilled animal husbandry secretary D. Amoy Kumar at the ED office for eight hours in connection with the case related to land allotment irregularities. The ED is likely to question the IAS officer on Thursday at the ED office.

Following the notices served by the ED, Amoy appeared before the agency for questioning. A team of officials from ED questioned the IAS officer in connection with land allotments that took place when he was collector of Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri district during the BRS regime.

Around 11.30 am on Wednesday, Amoy reached the ED office located at Basheerbagh along with a file containing documents related to alleged land allotments. The ED officials reportedly were armed with a bunch of records of land allotments questioned in connection with the land allotments when he was collector of Rangareddy and Medchal.

ED officials reportedly focused on lands allotted to private persons and businessmen during the BRS regime under Bhoodan schemes. It was reported that the farmers approached the police alleging that when Amoy was collector of Rangareddy district, the collector reportedly allotted valuable lands to private persons and businessmen at Nagaram village of Maheswaram mandal of Rangareddy district.

Farmers also alleged that the then collector Amoy with the influence of higher-ups and political leaders during the previous BRS government, made illegal assistance to businessmen violating his rules and regulations.

During the eight-hour-long questioning, the ED reportedly obtained information from the IAS officer and reasons for allotment of open lands to businessmen at lower prices.

After eight hours of questioning, ED officials asked the IAS officer to appear before the agency on Thursday for a second consecutive day for questioning related to the same case.
