Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad forecast light to heavy rainfall in many parts of Telangana for Wednesday. On Thursday, some areas may experience further rainfall, though the intensity is expected to decrease.

The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms and gusts of wind reaching 40 km per hour in certain districts on September 4, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in localised regions.

The rainfall data provided by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), said Kumuram Bheem topped the day with 87.5 mm rainfall, followed by Adilabad (80.0 mm), and Jogulamba (65.5 mm).

In the GHMC area, Alwal circle recorded the highest rainfall of 3.8 mm, followed by Serilingampally and Chandanagar circles with 3.3 mm each. Most areas reported very light to moderate rainfall, reflecting the uneven distribution of precipitation.

The heavy rain has brought about challenges in urban areas, particularly within Hyderabad. The intense rainfall has led to the rapid erosion of road surfaces, resulting in large potholes and craters that have become hazardous for commuters. The situation is particularly dangerous at night, with poor visibility exacerbating the risks posed by these road conditions. Large puddles have also formed in several areas, adding to the difficulties faced by daily commuters.

People have expressed their concerns, and urged the authorities to take immediate action to repair the damaged roads. The risk of accidents has increased, and residents are calling for urgent measures to address these hazards and ensure the safety of the public.
