Karimnagar: Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the sub-registrar, an outsourcing employee, and a document writer red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for official favour at the registration office in Metpally on Wednesday.
The incident came to light when a landowner from Thimmapur village in Ibrahimpatnam approached sub-registrar Asifuddin to mortgage his 266-square-yard plot in Sai Ram Colony, Metpally. The sub-registrar directed the landowner to meet outsourcing employee B. Ravi and document writer A. Ravi, who demanded Rs 10,000 but agreed to accept Rs 5,000.
The landowner, unwilling to pay the bribe, lodged a complaint with the ACB. Acting on the tip-off, ACB officials directed him to hand over the money, during which they raided the office and apprehended all three accused red-handed.
The sub-registrar, along with the two others, was taken into custody. The ACB registered a case and initiated an investigation into the corruption charges, with plans to present the accused before the ACB court.
