Warangal: A special police team from Karnataka has joined the investigation into the robbery at the SBI’s Raiparthy mandal branch, where burglars, on November 19, broke into the bank and looted gold ornaments worth Rs 10 crore. Warangal police are yet to crack the case.

Police commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha deployed six police teams and intensified the search operation to nab the burglars.

The police in their investigation found that while trying to open the strong room with the help of a gas cutter, some of the burglars injured themselves.

The police team collected evidence and expanded the scope of investigation to Wardhannapet, Raiparthy and Palakurthy mandals by checking with the RMPs, doctors and chemist shops to know if any one approached them for treatment or buy medicines for injuries.

The police teams visited Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra as part of their investigation. High alert was sounded at various banks in interior areas and the police inquired about the safety measures at these bank branches.
