KPHB police book two for threatening, extortion
Hyderabad:The KPHB police have booked two individuals for allegedly threatening a businessman and attempting to extort money from him. The incident came to light after K. Pavan Kumar, a businessman, filed a complaint with the police.
According to the FIR, Pavan Kumar, who had obtained permission from the GHMC, planned to construct a building at MIG 43, 7th Phase, KPHB Colony, along with his business partner, M. Sherath Reddy.
However, for the past few weeks, two individuals — Jangala Nagarjuna and Bathina Suman Goud — allegedly began threatening the complainant and his partner, demanding ₹1 lakh. The accused have warned that if the money was not paid, they would obstruct the construction. As the complainant was unable to pay the full amount immediately, he started making payments in installments, but the harassment continued.
Later, the complainant learned that the accused had been threatening other small-scale contractors, including house builders, borewell drillers and street vendors and extorting money. They allegedly used threats to extort money, telling house owners and realtors that they would file petitions in court to block construction unless paid a ransom.
Realising the pattern of their actions, the complainant contacted the police. A case has been registered under Sections 308(2) and 351(2) of the BNS.
