Lakes Body Takes Up 6 Projects in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The GHMC’s lakes and water bodies management circle said it had has undertaken 34 projects costing nearly Rs 61 crore for fencing lakes, strengthening bunds and diverting sewage away from waterbodies.

According to a GHMC report, 10 project works have been completed, 18 are ongoing, and four are at the stage of calling tenders.

Serilingampally had the highest 12 projects, five completed and two under progress. Next was Kukatpally, where two projects were complete and work was apace on eight more.

It said that with the support of HYDRAA, authorities had demolished unauthorised structures at seven lakes which were built in FTL and buffer zones.

This included 35 structures at Kukatpally’s Sunnam Cheruvu, 12 at Gajularamaram’s Chinthal Cheruvu, 13 sheds and a compound wall at Laxmiguda’s Appa Cheruvu. Four buildings and 20 compound walls at Rajendranagar’s Bum-Rukh-Ud Dowla, one structure at Madinaguda’s Erla Cheruvu, 1 structure at Khanamet’s Thammidi Kunta and 16 structures at Kukatpally’s Nalla Cheruvu were demolished.
