Lawyer Couple Remembered on 4th Anniversary

Karimnagar: Members of the Manthani Bar Association, led by president K.V.L.N. Hari Babu, observed the fourth death anniversary of lawyer couple Gattu Vaman Rao and Nagamani on Monday in Manthani, Peddapalli district. The couple, native to Gunjapadaga village, were brutally murdered in broad daylight on February 17, 2021, while returning to Hyderabad from Kalavacharla village in Ramagiri mandal.
During the commemoration, the Bar Association paid a solemn tribute by offering floral wreaths at the couple’s portrait and expressed deep concern over the slow progress in the investigation and the lack of accountability. "The case continues to haunt our legal community, and the rising attacks on lawyers underscore the urgent need for robust protective legislation," they said.
Criticising both Central and state governments, the members highlighted their failure to implement the Lawyers' Protection Act, which they believe could help safeguard legal professionals from escalating violence and threats. The event was attended by vice-president K. Ragotham Reddy, secretary Muskula Sahender Reddy, and several other prominent lawyers.
