Man Attempts to Catch Fish, Drowns in Lake

Hyderabad: A 45-year-old man allegedly died of accidental drowning while fishing at the Hyder Cheruvu within the KPHB police station limits at 4 pm on Saturday.

According to investigating officer Manyam, the deceased has been identified as J. Ravi, residing in Miyapur with his wife and three children.

The deceased would often go to the lake for fishing. On Saturday, after he could not catch a fish with his harpoon, he reportedly jumped into the water thinking he would get a fish and return. The police also said that he did this very often.

On Saturday, he reportedly lost his footing and drowned. After a local informed the police about someone’s footwear spotted near the lake, the police reached the spot and recovered the body.

At that time, the victim was unidentified. Police spread the word about the body after which his brother reached out to the police.
