Man Extorts Money in the Name of HYDRAA, Held
Hyderabad:Ameenpur police arrested a man for blackmailing a builder and attempting to extort money from him, in Sangareddy on Tuesday.
According to Ameenpur CI Sada Nagaraju, the accused has been identified as Dr Viplav Sinha, 40, of Khammam and a resident of Ameenpur, working as a physiotheraist.
The accused was habitually extorting money. After the complaint of a builder, who did not wish to be named, the incident came to light.
Sinha had reached out to the builder, warning him of a complaint against him to the HYDRAA for one of his establishments. Further, he told the builder that he would avoid complaining if he gave him `20 lakh. However, he has extorted money in a similar fashion before from many others.
According to the CI, “The builder had built three blocks beside a nala. The builder claims he has not established these on the FTL land and the buffer zone. However, Irrigation officials will look into it. The accused blackmailed him that if he did not give him the money, he would complain about it to HYDRAA.”
A case was registered under Section 308 (5) of the BNS.
