Hyderabad: A man who killed his wife and later portrayed it as an act of suicide was convicted to life imprisonment by the LB Nagar Court. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict.

A complaint was lodged by the deceased’s mother Chennamma with Pahadishareef police in 2021. She stated that her daughter Laxmamma was found dead by the landlord, and when she reached the spot, she found her daughter's neck carried bruises.

Her son-in-law was nowhere to be seen, she said. Police launched a search and found him at Manikyammaguda village three days after the incident.

According to police, Laxmamma and Narasimha had frequent fights as the latter suspected her fidelity. The couple has two sons and they were admitted to SC Boys Hostel at Maheshwaram.

Meanwhile, they shifted to another house in Manikyammaguda where they stayed without their kids, thus getting plenty of time to fight. We're never in peace, the complainant said.

Narasimha hatched a conspiracy to eliminate his wife. However, the FSL report unraveled the cause of death.

Narasimha grabbed two electric wires and strangulated Laxmamma while she was sleeping. He then used her saree and hanged her to the ceiling fan to make it appear like a suicide.

The police said the accused was adamant all through the investigation, stating that he did not kill his wife. But the FSL report proved him wrong.

The report clearly mentioned that the cause of death was 'ligature strangulation' which is caused by force, whereas in case of hanging, the report would say the cause of death is 'hanging'

An officer explained that ligature strangulation causes marks on the neck.
