Man held for murdering minor daughter after rape attempt

The accused, who is a native of Mahbubnagar district, had on June 7 informed his wife that he would be dropping the daughter at the bus stand. However, he took her to an isolated place in Nadigadda and tried to rape her. When she raised an alarm, Naresh banged her forehead on a rock causing injuries on her head and face due to which she died on the spot, sources said.

Hyderabad: Quick service app Zepto executive, who brutally murdered his 12-year-old daughter after attempting to rape her, and had dumped her body in an isolated place in Nadigadda thanda on June 7 and had lodged his daughter’s missing complaint, was arrested by Miyapur police on Wednesday.

According to reliable police sources, the accused Banothu Naresh, 35, addicted to porn sites, had on June 8 along with his wife filed their daughter’s missing case with Miyapur police. They found the victim’s decomposed body on the intervening night of June 13/14 at an isolated place in Nadigadda. They summoned the family members of the victim, who identified the body, which was subsequently shifted to Gandhi hospital mortuary on June 14. Later, the body was handed over to her family members, who performed the last rites.

FSL doctors, who conducted the post-mortem informed the police that the victim was murdered but there were no signs of rape, police said.

For two consecutive days, Naresh went to the crime scene. This caught the attention of the police while going through the CCTV footage in the area. They wondered why he was going on his bike to an isolated place and caught him on Wednesday.

During interrogation Naresh confessed to the crime. “We registered cases of attempt to rape a minor and murder, hiding facts under sections 302, 201, 376 r/w 511 of the IPC and Section 5, 6 r/w 18 of the Posco Act. We produced him before court and later he was remanded in judicial custody,” Prem Kumar, Miyapur inspector said.
