Many Arrested for Firing Incident on Gajularamaram Road

Hyderabad:Jeedimetla police on Friday arrested several persons in connection with the firing incident on the Gajularamaram road on Tuesday night.

The accused have been identified as Chebrolu Poornima, Eerapogu Ajay Chandra, Chenduri Goutham, Mohammed Sohail Khan, Samson, Narender, Palle Buggappa, Karan, Jaga Paik, Amith Ranujan, Shiva Mahanathi, Mandala Srikanth and Mandala Naresh,.

On the night of August 27, Ajay, Poornima and Gautham, who were on a two-wheeler, ran out of petrol. On not finding a petrol bunk nearby, they chose to steal it from a bike parked near a bar and restaurant. Bar cashier Akhilesh tried to stop them, which led to a scuffle.

In the meantime, Poornima called Naresh, who reached the spot along with Shiva, while four of his friends Sohail, Samson, Narender, Ujjwal followed. On Naresh’s orders, Shiva fired two bullets on Akhilesh and a bar worker standing beside him, Nishant, who escaped and fled from the scene.

Following this, Ajay lodged a complaint with the police claiming that Gautham was assaulted. Around 6 am the next day, Akhilesh lodged a complaint with the police regarding the firing. Soon after that, the police arrested Purnima, Gautham, Ajay Chandra, Sohail, Shyamsan, Narender and Ujwal and started an investigation.

It was found that a month back, Naresh had gone to Bihar where he bought a pistol and 100 bullets from Amit, in order to scare realtors.

Shiva and Srikanth were taken into custody and 37 bullets were recovered from their possession. Later, police intercepted Naresh and Sameer near Kukatpally and arrested them. They recovered 50 bullets, a sword, and a car from their possession.

A case was registered under the BNS and the Arms Act. Jeedimetla CI G. Mallesh said, “Naresh is an aide of BRS corporators.”
