Hyderabad: The Telangana State Minority Employees Welfare Association (MEWA) has raised concerns regarding the delayed release of maintenance charges and reimbursement of tuition fees for minority students enrolled in private colleges. In a letter addressed to the Telangana State Minorities Commission chairman Tareq Ansari, MEWA highlighted the hardships faced by students due to non-payment of these funds by the state government.

“The situation is grim, students are being asked by college managements to pay their dues, which defeats the purpose of providing scholarships and government aid. This delay is causing immense stress to many families who rely on this support to educate their children,” Mohammed Masooduddin Ahmed, MEWA president, told Deccan Chronicle.

The organisers said that private college managements had refused to issue pass certificates to students citing the pending tuition fee payments. This refusal has hampered students’ ability to seek higher education and pursue career goals. MEWA urged the minorities commission to expedite the release of funds to alleviate these difficulties.

“In many cases, students who have worked hard to complete their degrees are being held back by this issue,” added Masooduddin. “Without timely intervention, we risk creating a cycle of frustration and lost opportunities for talented youth.”
