MGU to be developed on par with OU: R&B Min.

Nalgonda: Minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday said that Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) at Anneparthy would be developed on par with Osmania University in terms of facilities for students and quality of education.

Laying the foundation stones of buildings of Academic Cell, ladies hostel and internal roads in MGU, taken up with Rs 37.95 crore, he said that the state government had accorded top priority on education in its policies. He pointed out that budgetary allocation for education was increased by 11.5 per cent by the Congress government as funds for education were increased to Rs 21,292 crore for the fiscal year 2024-05 from Rs 19,093 crore in the previous fiscal. The state government has also taken up setting up of Young India Integrated Schools in all Assembly constituencies by spending Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore for each.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussain, said that it was planned to set up a skill development center in MGU in collaboration with information technology department. He also requested the minister to take initiative for government’s approval for the proposal sent for setting up of a science building, B.Ed College and a skill development center.

District collector Ila Tripathi and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veereshan were also present.
