Minister Sridhar Babu inaugurates Indo-Belgian Life Sciences Conference
Hyderabad:IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership between India and Belgium in life sciences, highlighting Hyderabad as the epicenter of innovation and collaboration.
Inaugurating the Indo-Belgian Life Sciences Conference in the city, Sridhar Babu said that India and Belgium were individually strong in life sciences, the true potential lay in the fusion of their expertise. He invited Belgium’s life sciences community to explore synergies.
“Together, we can harness our collective strengths to address global health challenges and make life-saving innovations accessible and affordable to all,” he added, underscoring the role of Hyderabad as a catalyst for global healthcare innovation.
The conference brought together key dignitaries and industry leaders. Notable attendees included Didier Vanderhasselt, ambassador of Belgium to India, Jeroen Cooreman, director-general for bilateral affairs, and G.V. Prasad, honorary consul of Belgium and co-chairman and managing director of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.
Eminent speakers such as Dr Peter Piot, Professor of Global Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Dr Ajit Shetty, chairman, Flemish Institute of Biotechnology, Dr Soumya Swaminathan, chairperson, MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, and Sudarshan Jain, Secretary General, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, contributed to thought-provoking discussions on the future of healthcare innovation.
The event featured dynamic panel discussions on topics including, vaccine development and supply chain security, medical devices and innovation, biotech innovation and start-ups, venture capital and start-up funding.
Sridhar Babu invited the global life sciences community for BioAsia 2025, the 22nd edition of the world’s premier life sciences and healthcare event, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from February 24 to 26.
