Warangal: Endowments minister Konda Surekha, who was on a surprise visit to the Warangal Regional Eye Hospital in Hanamkonda district on Monday, took a strong note of the negligence of health officials in discharging their duties.

The minister, accompanied by Warangal MP Kadiam Kavya, mayor Gundu Sudharani, KUDA chairman Venkatram Reddy and collector Satya Sharada, enquired with patients about the medical services being provided in the hospital. She found several staff members absent from duty and some staffers and health officials had also signed in the attendance register in advance for upcoming days.
The minister ordered the collector and concerned authorities to take immediate action and issue a show cause notice against a doctor and two medical staff members for being negligent in discharging their duties.
She complained of unhygienic conditions on the hospital premises, including thick vegetation and water leakage from taps, and ordered officials to immediately take up repair and sanitation works in and around the health facility.
Later, the minister participated in an awareness rally on Swachatanam-Pachadanam organised by municipal corporation staff and women's societies. The rally was taken out from the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) office to the MGM Circle in Hanamkonda.
