Hyderabad: Ghatkesar police on Monday exhumed the body of a former MPTC member-cum-realtor Gaddam Mahesh (42) from a deep pit at a dump yard in Kondapur village.

On June 15, Mahesh was asked to come to his office in Ghatkesar by some persons. When he arrived around 1 pm, a person threw red chilli powder in his eyes and tied him in his office and brutally beat him with sticks before strangulating him to death, police sources said.

That very night they transported his body to a dump yard in Kondapur where they dug a five feet deep pit and buried the body there. The following day they took Mahesh’s car to a service centre and returned to their house in Ghatkesar, sources said. The accused eliminated Mahesh as the civil case on a plot went in his favour, sources said.

The same day Mahesh’s brother lodged a missing complaint with Ghatkesar police after failing to locate him.

S. Chakrapani, ACP Malkajgiri said, “On checking Mahesh’s CDR and GPS location in June, we were able to identify the accused who were absconding”, Chakrapani said.

The locals urged the accused to surrender and five of them have reportedly obliged.

On completion of all formalities, Mahesh’s body was handed over to his family members, who performed the last rites late in the evening, police said.
