WARANGAL: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the state government, saying a land scam worth thousands of crores of rupees occurred behind the proposed cancellation of the Hyderabad Pharma City project.

On one hand, they claim the pharma city was cancelled. On the other hand the government informed the High Court that it hasn’t been cancelled, how can they mislead the judiciary, they talk about Future City, AI City and Fourth City, have they acquired even an acre of land for these, he questioned.

The BRS government proposed Pharma City with 14,000 acres and an investment of Rs 64,000 crore. The land was acquired under conditional acquisition and cannot be repurposed for other projects. If the Congress government continues its alleged deception and attempts to mislead the High Court, then it has to face severe consequences both in court and in the people’s court.

The land given by farmers for industrial development should not be used for corrupt land deals, he said. Cancelling Pharma City will not only harm industrial progress but will also result in the loss of thousands of job opportunities in Telangana, he pointed out.

He urged the government to abandon the corrupt schemes introduced by it and continue with the original Pharma City project. The BRS will closely scrutinise the government’s actions and statements regarding this project, he added.
