Narsingi Police Arrest Two for Extortion and Land Grabbing Bid
HYDERABAD: Narsingi police arrested two persons in connection with a case of extortion, unlawful demolition and land grabbing at APD Function Hall in Gandhamguda, Hydershakote. The arrests were made following a complaint from the property owner, Thaku Ahalya Singh.
According to Narsingi inspector, Harish Goud, 32, and Kondu Ram Prasad Rao, 52, planned to forcibly take over the function hall and the land. Resorting to extortion, they threatened the tenants and the watchman’s family.
According to Ahalya Singh, retired government employee, the accused, along with their associates, had been attempting to forcibly take over the function hall. They and their associates forged signatures in an attempt to sell the property. They managed to get the forged document validated at the district registrar’s office.
She said that they entered the property with around 70 hired henchmen, who physically assaulted the watchman and his family, and demolished a significant portion of the function hall. The watchman, fearing for his life and the safety of his family, immediately contacted the police through dial 100.
Upon receiving the complaint, Narsingi police swung into action and registered the case under sections 308(5), 324(4), 329(4) read with 61(2) of the BNS Act. The accused were presented before the court. A petition was filed for their judicial custody.
