New Telangana Talli Looks like a Pauper: KTR
BRS seeks to sculpt new battle over statue
Hyderabad: “This is not Telangana Talli, but ‘Congress Talli.” And she looks like a pauper, claimed BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, describing the new Telangana Talli statue that was unveiled at the state Secretariat on Monday. Rama Rao was speaking after unveiling a BRS version of the statue at the party office in Medchal-Malkajgiri district just after the official function.
“on day one of the next BRS government with KCR as CM, we will remove the statue from the Secretariat and send it to Gandhi Bhavan. We will do the same with the Rajiv Gandhi statue opposite the Secretariat,” Rama Rao said.
He said the state had thousands of Telangana Talli statues that took shape in 2007 reflecting the dreams and aspirations of the people. “Jokes are doing the rounds on social media asking who robbed Telangana Talli of the golden crown, the Kohinoor diamond in it, her jewellery,” he said.
On Chief Minister comments on the new statue, Rama Rao said: “Those responsible for thousands of deaths in the statehood struggle, now say Telangana Talli must look poor. Every other state has a ‘mother’ adorned with a crown, jewellery, looks like a goddess and inspires devotion and dedication. The same is the case with Bharat Mata.”
Rama Rao said every BRS leader and worker must on Tuesday, perform ‘palabhishekams’, and if required “panchamrutha abhishekams” to Telangana Talli statues.
Earlier, BRS legislators, led by Rama Rao, staged a protest at the entrance to the Assembly before the Winter Session began. The police took the protesters, including Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao, S. Madhusudhana Chari, K. Kavitha and others into custody briefly, shifted them to the Abids and Saifabad stations and released them later.
The BRS legislators arrived at the Assembly wearing T-shirts emblazoned with slogans ‘Revanth-Adani Bhai Bhai’. Police refused to allow entry unless they removed the T-shirts. When they resorted to slogan-shouting, the police made preventive arrests, police said.
