Nizamabad Played Key Role in TG Movement: Collector

Nizamabad/Kamareddy: Telangana state is moving forward with integrated development. Equal emphasis is given to rural and urban areas, including Nizamabad district, for carrying out development works, including the implementation of welfare schemes, stated Nizamabad district collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, who was addressing a gathering on the occasion of 10th Telangana Formation Day on Sunday at Nizamabad.

In the united Andhra Pradesh, when the Telangana was not carved out from the AP, the district had not achieved the desired development works, the collector said.

The event to commemorate the 10th Formation Day of Telangana state kick-started here on Sunday at the District Integrated Offices Complex, wherein collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu along with urban Nizamabad MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, mayor Dandu Neethu Kiran, commissioner of police Kalmeshwar Singanevar paid floral tributes to the Telangana Martyrs’ Column.

After hoisting the national flag, the collector while recalling the contributions who fought for the separate Telangana, said that Nizamabad district had an important connection with the Telangana movement. “Great poet Dasarathi wrote ‘Naa Telangana Koti Ratnala Veena’ while he was in Nizamabad district jail,” he said, adding that it was the responsibility of the people to achieve the “overall development” as per the wishes of the Telangana martyrs.

The utmost importance was given to the development of sectors like education, health and agriculture. Under the aegis of Amma Adarsha Committees, infrastructure improvement works were taken up for 793 schools, he said.

On the other, in Kamareddy district, collector Jitesh V Patil, superintendent of police Sindhu Sharma and others paid glowing tributes to the Telangana martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion, Patil said that the priceless sacrifices of the martyrs helped in the realization of dreams in the form of a separate Telangana state. Kamareddy district witnessed overall development in various fields after the formation of the state, he added.

Kamareddy municipal chairperson Gaddam Indu Priya, vice-chairperson Urdonda Vanitha, Zilla parishad vice-chairman Prem Kumar and others were present. The leaders belonging to Congress, BJP BRS and others also celebrated Telangana Formation Day on Sunday.
