Officials Alerted Over Rains in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: In the backdrop of yellow alert, Nizamabad district administration geared up to tackle rain-related problems. Field staff and district officials were directed to remain vigilant over next five days in the district. In Nizamabad district, 19.4 mm average rainfall was recorded on Tuesday.

The meteorological department issued a rain alert for next five days in north Telangana district including Nizamabad. Of 1015.9 mm average rainfall, 602.3 mm rainfall was recorded so far. Highest rainfall of 89.4 mm was recorded in Bheemgal, 85.3mm in Nizamabad south, 68.1 mm in Nizamabad north and 50.9 mm rainfall in Mendora, on Tuesday.

Of 33 mandals in Nizamabad district, 10 mandals get excess rainfall and remaining 23 mandals get normal rainfall. District collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu reviewed the arrangements for rain-related preparedness. He directed the district officials to be ready to tackle rain-related problems. All precautions should be taken to avoid any untoward incident due to heavy rains, he said.

Collector also directed TS Transco superintending engineer Ravinder to repair uprooted electricity poles, submerged transformers and snapped electricity lines in the district. The SE said that uninterrupted power supply continued in Nizamabad district. However, vehicular traffic will be diverted at flood-hit low-level bridges and causeways.
