Online betting racket busted, 4 held

Hyderabad: South Zone Task Force team, along with Mahankali police, busted an online cricket betting racket, arrested four persons and seized Rs.92.12 lakh in cash from their possession.

The accused sub-bookies have been identified as Godela Sandeep Kumar, a of Ranigunj, S. Abhishek Kumar, of Goshamahal, Vinay Singh, of Mangalhat who worked as a collection boy, and P. Yashwanth Gupta, a punter. The main bookie, identified as Adem from New Delhi, is absconding, said additional DCP (task force) Ande Srinivasa Rao.

The accused were found conducting online betting activities at a house in Ranigunj. During interrogation, they revealed they were operating under the instructions of Adem, using multiple websites for online betting. Login IDs and passwords were issued to punters to participate in what officials described as a game of chance to make quick money illegally, Srinivasa Rao informed.
