Hyderabad: Residents of Rajiv Gruhakalpa at Subhashnagar in Quthbullapur are facing severe inconvenience due to a dysfunctional drainage system in the area. The drainage line, laid directly on the road without proper cover, is causing numerous problems. The affected locality includes 7-8 plots, each housing 32 families.

Residents are expressing their disappointment over the inconvenience caused by the pipeline laid on the road. “It has become very difficult to park our vehicles here. The road is already congested and the exposed drainage line has made it worse,” complained M. Ramesh, a resident of the area.

Walking has also become a challenge, especially for children and senior citizens. “There is no proper space for walking. Children who want to play here and elderly people are finding it extremely unsafe and inconvenient,” shared Sushma, another resident.

The problem worsens whenever the pipeline leaks or the manhole overflows. “The water overflows onto the streets and creates chaos. Adding to this, leftover construction material is still lying here and now people have started throwing garbage there as well. This has attracted stray dogs, making it even more unsafe,” lamented Shyam Kumar, a resident.

A Water Board official blamed the residents, saying they had extended their living spaces, causing the problem. However, when asked why the pipeline was laid on the road and what steps would be taken to fix it, the official refused to answer.

Residents are asking the authorities to address the issue immediately by covering the drainage line and constructing proper CC roads to improve living conditions in the area.
