Hyderabad:Pocharam police, who were recently instructed by the High Court to avoid involvement in the long-standing Ekashila land dispute, continue to interfere in the matter. Now, they are seeking assistance from revenue officials to resolve the issue. This move follows an altercation in which BJP MP Etala Rajender and others allegedly attacked a realtor, escalating tensions surrounding the contentious matter.
The land dispute, dating back to 1985, has been mired in legal complexities for decades. Despite the High Court's directive to steer clear of the matter, the police are now coordinating with the revenue department to ascertain the ownership status and clarify other legal aspects of the property. "We are working closely with the revenue department to resolve these ambiguities," a police officer stated.
Meanwhile, police are recording statements from the complainant and other individuals involved. The complainant, Upender, has lodged complaints against Etala Rajender and five others: Yenugu Sudharshan Reddy, Shiva Reddy, Jubair Akram, Basawaraj Goud and V. Srinivas. They are facing charges of wrongful restraint, causing hurt, criminal intimidation and causing insult.
The police have indicated that further actions, including serving notices to the accused and making arrests, will proceed once all statements are recorded.
