Hyderabad:The Cyberabad police on Monday conducted searches on a five-star hotel at Gachibowli, which later found to be run by Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao and his wife Shailima.

The powerful couple owns Athome Hospitality Services Pvt Ltd, which according to their official website, operates a budget hotel, a three-star and a five-star hotel in the upmarket IT hub around Gachibowli.

“There is a possibility of gambling activities by rich people in the high-end hotels on the occasion of Sankranti. As a routine exercise, we have been conducting searches in star hotels,” a senior Cyberabad official told Deccan Chronicle.

The police earlier conducted similar searches in ITC Kohinoor at Raidurg, he added.

However, the BRS took it the other way and attributed motives to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. But for a tweet by Krishnak Manne, a spokesperson of the BRS, it would not have been noticed that the hotel is run by Rama Rao and his wife.

Initially, he tweeted on social media platform X that the Chief Minister must have been disappointed as police searches in a hotel belonging to Rama Rao’s family members did not yield any result.

“After a 35-member team of police conducted a raid at the hotel of KTR’s family members with a plan to defame BRS working president, the raid turned into a flow show as Revanth police did not find anything,” Manne said.

Inquiries by Deccan Chronicle revealed that the said hotel is run by Rama Rao’s own firm.

In fact, he disclosed ownership of Athome Hospitality in the election affidavits filed by him in the 2023 assembly elections. His company is operating Athome hotel with 120 rooms in Whitefields, Kondapur, Deccan Serai in Raheja Mindspace having 100 rooms and Deccan Serai Grande with 190 rooms in a 10-storied structure on the main road of Gachibowli.

Incidentally, the 10-storied building came up in a disputed layout on the Old Mumbai Highway.

Inquiries also revealed that Telukuntla Sridhar, a close friend of the BRS working president, is another director in Athome Hospitality along with Shailima. Sridhar was very popular in administrative and business circles during the BRS reign for his close proximity with the party’s first family. Both Shailima and Sridhar acted as the directors of another real estate firm Alekhya Ventures, as per the ministry of corporate affairs records.

Sridhar's partners in turn have taken up mega office and residential complexes in the city.

Inquiries also revealed that Sridhar had business links with several companies that owned properties in prime localities of Kollur, Mokilla and Gandipet. For instance, he and one Yelishala Ravi Prasad were directors in Gayatri Vaishnaoi Constructions Mokilla Pvt Ltd.

When Deccan Chronicle asked Krishank about the ownership of the hotel, he refused to give details other than saying that Rama Rao’s close family members own it.

He posted another tweet saying, “New story against @KTRBRS coming up with Revanth&Co” and suspected that the hotel of Rama Rao’s family would be dragged “with script of narcotics”. He also said “till Congress sends KTR to jail this saga doesn’t seem to end.”
