Ponnam asks BRS to explain Maha poll outcome glee

Karimnagar: Backward class welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar has called on BRS leaders to clarify their apparent satisfaction with the recent Maharashtra election outcomes. “Are you pleased with the BJP’s victory in Maharashtra?” Prabhakar questioned, highlighting concerns over the party’s stance.
On Monday, minister Prabhakar attended the oath-taking ceremony of the new agriculture market committee in Huzurabad, Karimnagar district. He was accompanied by Government Chief Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas, Huzurabad constituency in-charge Vodithala Pranav, and libraries department chairman Sattu Mallesh.
Prabhakar criticised the BRS for its perceived alignment with the BJP, likening their relationship to “friendship in Delhi and wrestling in the alley.” He asserted that the BRS’ support for the BJP in parliamentary elections has resulted in the party failing to secure any seats in the state, labelling the BRS as the BJP’s “B-team.”
Questioning the party’s strategy, Prabhakar pointed out that after transforming the TRS into the BRS, leaders travelled to Maharashtra with hundreds of vehicles with the intention of expanding the party nationwide by contesting in all elections. “Why then did the BRS not participate in the Assembly elections held in Maharashtra?” he asked.
Highlighting agricultural achievements, Prabhakar praised Telangana farmers for their efficient use of water from the Yellampalli project, which enabled record paddy production without relying on the Kaleshwaram project. He noted that paddy allocations were made to non-defaulter rice millers with zero balances, advising that millers clear their outstanding dues to qualify for future allocations.
Addressing Opposition criticism, Prabhakar defended the Congress government’s initiatives, including a Rs 500 bonus for fine rice. He urged Opposition parties to report any farmers who did not receive the bonus, assuring that the government is prepared to double the amount if necessary.
Fulfilling campaign promises, the Congress government has waived farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh and plans to extend this relief to farmers with loans exceeding Rs 2 lakh, contingent upon repayment of the excess amounts to banks. Prabhakar emphasised this commitment to supporting the agricultural community.
Additionally, Prabhakar highlighted the state’s Comprehensive Caste Census, describing it as a revolutionary step poised to set a national example. He encouraged the public to compare the BRS party’s decade-long governance with the Congress government’s achievements in just 10 months.
