Hyderabad:A special court for PMLA cases at Nampally has taken congnisance of an Enforcement Directorate chargesheet filed against postal employee Kesari Sathish and his relative Duvva Veeresh Kumar, The ED had filed a case based on a FIR registered by the CBI and ACB against Sathish, then sub-postmaster at Kodakandla, for misappropriation of government funds of `1.72 crore. He had allegedly misappropriated the money between April 19, 2021, to May 17, 2022, by making falsified entries on Sundays and holidays. The money had been spent in casinos, and in providing loans. The ED said Sathish had transferred a a land parcel having book value of `3.26 lakh to Veeresh Kumar.


Hotel Aggregators in Hyderabad Told to Enhance Guest Safety

Hyderabad:Director General of Police, women safety wing, Shikha Goel on Monday asked hotel aggregators to take safety measures in installing CCTVs and collecting ID cards of customers to prevent untoward incidents. At a meeting, she told the aggregators to reinforce the security and safety protocols being implemented in hotel premises. The objective was to ensure these measures not only enhance business operations in a lawful environment but also prevent illegal activities.

In this meeting, Shikha Goel reviewed measures to enhance safety and security protocols in hotels to ensure the protection of all guests, particularly women and children. The discussions centred around implementing proper ID verification processes, extending CCTV backup durations, and ensuring the availability of emergency police contact information in all rooms, reception and visitor areas.

The aggregators said all hotels would extend their CCTV footage storage from the current 30-60 days to 90 days. Weekly or fortnight audits would be conducted by aggregators.

14 Arrested in Bowenpally for Stealing BSNL Copper Cables

Hyderabad:Bowenpally police arrested 14 members of a gang who posed as telecom workers and stole copper cables. Police recovered 120 kilogram of copper wire and other property used in the crime worth `10 lakh from their possession.

North zone DCP S. Rashmi Perumal said the gang was stealing the cables, meant to be laid underground, causing huge financial loss to the BSNL and disruption in services.

Police said that they would dig up the road sides and make off with the cables at night time.

The was acting on a complaint on August 13 received from D. Maruthy of the BSNL regarding the theft of cables at Centrepoint nala, Bowenpally.

Bowenpally police sifted through CCTV footage, identified the gang and arrested the members at Tadbund crossroads. During interrogation, the gang members confessed to the theft, the DCP said.

They also confessed to other incidents of theft in Karkhana, Kushaiguda and Abdullapurmet police limits. Apart from the accused police also arrested two scrap dealers who are receivers of the stolen property.

Cyberabad Police Arrest Realtor for Rs 2 Crore Jewellery Scam

Hyderabad:The Cyberabad special operations team (SOT) and Narsingi police arrested realtor Gunti Suman of Gandipet for cheating several jewellers of `2 crore and recovered 736 grams of jewellery worth `84 lakh from his possession.

Rajendranagar SOT D. Srinivas said Suman began cheating jewellers reportedly to invest with one Ramadevi, on promises of doubling the sum.

Police said Suman would call jewelers and select costly items through Whatsapp and request home delivery. He would offer crossed cheques for the purchase, which bounced.

Police said the victims were located in the Narsingi, Banjara Hills, Raidurgam, Sangareddy, Charminar and Alwal police limits.
