Probe into clash between students in welfare hostel

Khammam: Deputy director of social welfare K. Satyanarayana on Thursday visited the SC Welfare Hostel for boys in Khammam to conduct a probe into a clash between two groups of students in the hostel.
The officials swung into action after a video of the fight between the two groups of students in the hostel near NTR chowrastha went viral in social media.
According to students, accommodation was provided to college students in the SC welfare hostel for boys. However, the senior students did not allow K Venu, another student, who allegedly came to the hostel late in a drunken state.
Venu was pursuing second year, B. Sc in SNR-BGNR College at Khammam. Angered by the act of his seniors, Venu went to his native place Kodakuduru in Wyra Mandal and came to the hostel with five friends. They attacked the four senior students in which the latter received injuries.
Hostel warden venkat Reddy was not present in the hostel when the fracas occurred, nor were the watchmen. After visiting the hostel, Satyanarayana said that he had conducted the inquiry and a report would be sent to higher officials. According to sources, the officials suspended a student from the hostel holding him responsible for the incident.
Khammam police did not receive any complaint from any group of students regarding the incident.
