Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director-General (DG) CV Anand said the cases booked by the ACB in the last six months resulted in fear among corrupt officials across the State. Owing to these cases, the people were able to get their work done in various offices more easily.

In a tweet, he said, “Just wanted to inform all friends that the number of cases which ACB has been doing since six months has finally resulted in fear creeping into all such corrupt employees across the State.”

“It is proved by the extra difficulty my officers are facing in concluding the traps and other cases as such suspect officers are now taking a lot of precautions and looking at everything suspiciously. But, their habits and greed are making them fall into the trap,” he said.

“It is reported that people are able to get their work done in various offices in the State more easily now, without having to pay bribes. The harassment is less, it is being said. It’s a long haul but we will continue the drive despite the operational challenges,” he said in the tweet.

After Anand took charge as DG ACB, the traps against the tainted officials in the revenue, police, municipal and other crucial departments continued effectively resulting in their arrest red-handed. On Friday, the ACB caught L. Balwanth Reddy, a GHMC Assistant Engineer (AE) in Rajendranagar, red handed when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a complainant.

Responding to Anand’s tweet, netizens urged him to continue the crackdown against the corrupt officials in the government departments. A netizen Vijay said, “Sir, so far you have just scratched the tip of the mountain of corruption that pervades from top to bottom. Don't stop the work you are doing and start going after the big fish that swallow crores with impunity. Then the real fear begins.”

In response, Anand agreed to it. Another netizen Sitaram Dhulipala said, “Well done sir. At the same time citizens should also come out in support of ACB in cleansing corruption from society. Hope this is going to be a continuous process and will focus on big fishes also.”
