Ramagundam Cops Nab 4, Seize 4K Mobile Phones

Karimnagar: Cyber police on Wednesday nabbed four persons who bought old mobile phones and used them in cybercrimes.

The police seized 4,000 old mobile phones and three motor vehicles from their possession at Medipally NTPC area of Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district.

The four accused were identified as Md. Shameem, Adbul Salaam, Md. Iftekhar and Akthar Ali, are all residents of Bihar.

On a tip-off that some people are purchasing old mobile phones for using them in cybercrimes, cyber security police kept a strict vigil and nabbed three persons moving in a suspicious manner at the Medipally NTPC area.

The police found 4,000 old mobile phones packed in three gunny bags. The accused were about to send all mobile phones to Bihar.

One of their associates, Akthar, an expert in mobile repairing, changes the software, motherboard and other parts and then hand over the phones to cyber criminals of Jharkhand, Jamthara and Deoghar who by using them extract money from innocent people.

Cyber security inspector Krishna Murthy appealed to people not to sell or hand over old and damaged mobile phones to unknown persons. If those phones fall into the hands of cybercriminals, they will have to face a problem in future.
