Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to deliver on promises made during his tenure.

Addressing a press conference in Pune on Monday, as part of his three-day campaign for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Revanth Reddy alleged that Modi had no “success story” to share with people after ruling for over a decade, which is why he has been raising irrelevant issues during his Maharashtra election campaign.

He said that the Telangana government is providing four per cent reservations to Muslims and assured that if the MVA government is voted to power, it will address the issue of Muslim reservations in Maharashtra also.

The Chief Minister wrapped up his three-day Maharashtra campaign tour with rallies in Pune and Kolhapur, reiterating his call for a united fight against the BJP.

Revanth Reddy claimed that the Prime Minister was deflecting attention by raising irrelevant issues during his campaign.

“Even after 11 years of rule, the Modi government does not have a single success story to claim,” he remarked. He drove home the point by mentioning about unfulfilled promises such as doubling farmers' income, providing two crore jobs annually and building homes for the poor by 2022.

He accused the Modi government of bringing anti-farmer policies, including controversial farm laws that led to prolonged protests and claimed lives of over 700 farmers.

"Maharashtra has the highest number of farmer suicides, but the Prime Minister avoids this subject," he said.

Revanth Reddy defended the Congress governments in Telangana, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, and asserted that the “guarantees” promised in these states were being implemented effectively. He challenged Modi to send a committee led by a Union minister or a senior Central government official to Telangana to verify the facts.

Revanth Reddy highlighted Telangana’s achievements under his leadership, including waiving ₹18,000 crore in crop loans for farmers, providing government jobs to 50,000 youth, offering free RTC bus travel for women, supplying cooking gas cylinders to 50 lakh families at ₹500, ensuring 24-hour free electricity for farmers and up to 200 units to poor households and achieving record grain production with added bonus for farmers.

Revanth Reddy criticised the BJP's handling of Maharashtra, accusing the Modi government of destabilising democratic institutions. He targeted BJP allies Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, and Ashok Chavan, calling them “betrayers”, who had turned Maharashtra into a “stronghold for democracy’s enemies”.

Appealing to Maharashtra voters, Revanth Reddy described the upcoming elections as a “battle for democracy” and sought their support for Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

“The country’s financial capital and the second-largest state politically deserve leaders who prioritise its people, not betrayal,” he concluded.

He took a swipe at Modi, accusing him of abandoning the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra during the final phase of the election campaign. Revanth Reddy pointed out that Modi’s absence in the last three days of campaigning reflects his acknowledgment of the alliance's imminent defeat.
