Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught Sangam Durgaiah, a Revenue Inspector working at the office of Nyalkal Mandal Tahsildar in Sangareddy District, red handed when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe amount of Rs.70,000 as a reward from a complainant Hippalgone Malappa for doing an official favour.

Durgaiah allegedly demanded bribe for processing the cheque with regard to the assigned land which was acquired by the government for allocation to National Investment & Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad.

The bribe amount of Rs.70,000 was recovered from the possession of the arrested officer and the fingers of right hand and the back side right pocket of his trousers tested positive in the chemical test. Durgaiah performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage, the ACB officials said.

The officials produced Durgaiah before the special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad after which he was remanded to judicial custody. The ACB urged the public to contact toll free number-1064 in case of demand of bribe by any public servant for taking action as per law.
