Amanullah jailed for assaulting official

Hyderabad: Employees of the Road Transport Authority (RTA), who went on a pen-down strike on Friday wearing black badges across the state in protest against Amanullah Khan, from the autorickshaws union, for manhandling C. Ramesh, joint transport commissioner, received the support of the Telangana NGO joint action committee.

On requests from senior officials, the employees resumed work in the afternoon.

As the strike hit processing the applications of applicants whose slots had been generated for Monday, the authorities postponed the slots to Tuesday.

Soon after the news of the assault broke, transport minister Ponnam Prabakhar spoke to Director-General of Police Ravi Gupta. A court later send Amanullah Khan to the Chanchalguda jail.

Meanwhile, the protesting employees urged the government to increase the strength of the department by filling up the vacant posts of inspectors and constables in RTA.
