SCR wins 6 awards for saving energy

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has won six national energy conservation awards for 2024 for reducing energy consumption at railway stations and hospitals. The awards were presented in New Delhi by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The Guntakal divisional won the first prize in the hospitals sector, and Renigunta in the railway stations sector with Jammikunta coming second. Certificates of merit were awarded to the Central Hospital, Lalaguda, the Hyderabad and Nizamabad railway station.
The Guntakal hospital achieved significant energy savings using solar water heaters, LED lighting, and energy-efficient equipment. Renigunta station reduced its energy consumption from 7.17 lakh units to 2.73 lakh units and Jammikunta from 2.08 lakh units to 0.85 lakh units.
The Lalaguda hospital implemented inverter ACs, natural daylight systems, and automated water pumps, while the Hyderabad station employed LED lighting, timers, and energy-efficient appliances. The Nizamabad station incorporated occupancy sensors, daylight pipes, and energy savers.
