Hyderabad: The newly elected Secunderabad Cantonment Congress MLA N. Sri Ganesh took oath at the State Assembly here on Thursday.

Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar administered oath to Sri Ganesh in the presence of Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Government Whip A. Laxman Kumar and MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy.

The Ministers and MLAs later congratulated Sri Ganesh, who won the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly byelection with a margin of 13,206 votes after completion of counting on June 4. The bypoll was required following the death of sitting BRS MLA G Lasya Nanditha in a road accident in February 2024.

The victory of Sri Ganesh marked the end of BRS 10-year rule.
