Hyderabad; Prof. Sudeep R. Muppidi, professor of digital media and journalism in the School of Communication at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, US, warned about the risks of AI-driven profiling and data commodification. He stressed the importance of the synergy between human intelligence and AI to maintain originality and critical thinking.

He was speaking at an international seminar, organised at the English and Foreign Languages University.

Prof. J. B. Nadda, director of the Consortium of Educational Communication (CEC), acknowledged AI's revolutionary impact on education, enabling personalised learning, inclusivity, and democratized access.

By emphasising the need to address AI's potential pitfalls and impact on marginalised voices, Eflu Vice Chancellor Prof. Haribandi Lakshmi stressed the irreplaceable role of human translation and called for ethical AI development.

Prof. K. Narasimha Rao, registrar of the university, linked AI tools to ancient religious texts, citing examples from the Ramayana and the use of algorithms by media houses to create rich content. He proposed introducing courses in automated journalism and computational journalism in higher education institutions.
