Hyderabad: As Telangana is emerging as a lead challenger in the Indian IT sector with a year-on-year increase in software exports, IT and industries minister D, Sridhar Babu said the government will extend all its support to fix bottlenecks in speedy execution of three new data centres by Microsoft.

Each data centre will serve 100 MW of IT load on average. They are coming up in a phased manner. These centres will enable Microsoft to serve Azure’s customers in India and worldwide.

A delegation led by Microsoft’s APAC director (land and reconstruction development) Ian Colon met IT minister Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat on Monday. They thanked the minister for the continued support from the government in the ongoing works in setting up three data centres in the city outskirts.

Microsoft had acquired 48 acres of land in the city outskirts at Rs 267 crore to expand its data centre business. So far, it has three data centres in India at Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. The three data centres in Hyderabad will double its capacity in the country.

Microsoft is also partnering closely with the government of Telangana to accelerate the adoption of cloud, AI, IoT and cyber security solutions for governance. This includes efforts to upskill government officials in next generation technology. Microsoft in Telangana is also extending opportunities for local businesses to innovate with the Cloud services.
