Stray Dogs Eat Newborn in Hanamkonda
Warangal: Stray dogs ate the lower part of a newborn reportedly after killing it near Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Hanamkonda on Friday.
It could not be established whether the baby had been dumped there by unidentified persons or was stillborn.
Matwada police on receiving information shifted the mutilated baby to the MGM Hospital for postmortem.
Matwada circle inspector Tumma Gopi said they were checking with the MGM Hospital and private hospitals in the surroundings to find out whether anybody lost their baby. He said the police had not received any complaint.
Since the dogs had eaten the lower part of the body, it has become difficult to identify whether the child was a baby boy or a girl but an umbilical cord in retained. A special police team has been formed to check the CCTV footage in nearby areas to try and trace the baby’s parents, he added.
MGH Superintendent Dr Murali said nobody in the hospital had not lost their baby. Stray dogs might have brought the baby from somewhere in the surroundings.
