Hyderabad: The BRS will embark on an exercise to study the structure and functioning of regional parties in other states as well as best practices that it can adopt.

Party working president K.T. Rama Rao explained at a press conference on Friday: “We are a 24-year-old party that was first a movement party, and then governed the state. We are going to look at the best practices we can adopt, learn what we need to and unlearn what we should, and make a fresh beginning.”

Ever since its loss in the last Assembly and the Lok Sabha elections, the BRS had been looking at ways to get its act together and overcome the electoral setbacks.

Rama Rao said he would be in the team of party leaders that would visit Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and other states to interact with leaders from the DMK, TMC, and strong regional parties. Would the BRS team visit Andhra Pradesh to interact with the TD and the YSRC? Rama Rao responded saying since their leaders “are here too, we will not have to go there, but we can learn from them.”

On whether the visits would also lay the foundation for cobbling together a political front comprising regional parties, the BRS leader said that was not on the cards now. “There are four more years before the next elections,” he said.
